Pence Road Materials Recovery Facility

The Pence Road Materials Recovery Facility, or MRF, is a County processing facility that sorts all of the single stream recyclable materials collected from residential curbside programs, schools, and drop-off programs throughout Mecklenburg County and several neighboring jurisdictions such as Cabarrus County and the City of Concord.

The MRF is an industrial facility that only accepts materials from commercial hauling companies and is not a location for any personal recycling drop-off.  Please visit on of Mecklenburg County’s Full Service Centers for any Drop-off recycling that you may have. The materials received are sorted by people along with specialized equipment designed to separate the recyclables. The facility and equipment are owned by Mecklenburg County, the day-to-day operations are managed by Circular Services.

This facility will serve as the primary MRF while the Metrolina MRF undergoes an extensive retrofit.
