Improvements are underway at the North Meck Recycling Center. We will be enlarging the site by expanding the useable area for customers. This will include adding covered acceptance canopies for more efficient recycling collection and processing. The County has hired R. J. Leeper Construction to complete Phase I of the project. Phase I is expected to last from June 2024 through June 2025.

Phase I will involve site expansion, construction of new acceptance areas, new pavement, new electrical systems and lighting, and a noise wall, to better separate our operations from nearby residences.

Phase II will construct turn-lanes from Statesville Road into and out of the recycling center. We are expecting begin this work in January 2025.

We will be open during the construction work, but please look out for new signage as construction will cause some changes in operations. We will be limiting non-residential deliveries during construction and we have had to temporarily stop selling mulch and compost. Operations will return to normal once construction activities have been completed.

We ask you to visit any of our other recycling centers for service that may not be available during the construction period.
