Mecklenburg County Solid Waste and Recycling Services invites residents to drop recyclables and waste items off at Full-Service Recycling Centers.

    Mecklenburg County has been recognized for its environmental stewardship efforts. The Solid Waste and Recycling division received the North Carolina Rising Environmental Steward of the Year Award from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI) at its annual meeting.

    Mecklenburg County has been recognized with ten 2024 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). 

  5. Small Businesses and Organizations Can Save Money at Hazardous Waste Collection Event

    Mecklenburg County Solid Waste and Recycling invites small businesses, nonprofits and other qualifying, nonresidential organizations to drop off their hazardous waste for a reduced fee during a special collection event on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

  6. William R. Davie Self Service Recycling Center Closes Temporarily for Construction and Expansion

    The self-service recycling center at William R. Davie Park will close Sept. 10 through late 2024, as Mecklenburg County completes construction to expand the center.  

  7. Enhanced Recycling Program Now Includes Wood

    The list of what can be recycled and dropped off at Mecklenburg County’s full-service recycling centers is much longer. Mecklenburg County’s enhanced recycling program now allows residents to drop off wood waste at three of our staffed full-service centers. (see list below)

    The Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Management Program is rocking down Electric Avenue with its latest utility vehicle. The John Deere Gator will be used at Compost Central Recycling Center, 140 Valleydale Road, Charlotte.

    On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Mecklenburg County’s Solid Waste Management Program will hold a small business hazardous waste collection event which will allow non-residential organizations to bring hazardous waste for a reduced fee.
