Holiday Closings

All Recycling Centers will close on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. The Recycling Centers will remain closed for Christmas Day on Thursday, December 25, 2025. The Centers will re-open for normal operations beginning on Friday, December 26, 2025. The Recycling Centers will also close on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance on New Years. The Centers will re-open for normal operations on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 7 a.m.

Residential Recycling and Waste Reduction

  • Electronic Waste Disposal

    Solid Waste and Recycling offers electronic waste disposal to County residents. 

  • Enhanced Recycling

    Mecklenburg County's four full-service centers will now accept polystyrene/ rigid foam packaging containers, as well as books, shredded paper, and clothing.

  • Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

    Solid Waste and Recycling provides guidance on disposing of household hazardous waste.

  • Purchase Mulch and Compost

    Solid Waste and Recycling sells compost and mulch at its full service drop off recycling centers.

  • Sharps and Needle Disposal

    Solid Waste and Recycling provides guidance on disposing of sharps and needles.

  • Yard Waste Disposal

    Yard Waste, such as grass, leaves, and trees are accepted at all Full-Service Drop off Centers.
